teen wolf character tropes → lydia martin

amorremanet:

Dear Teen Wolf fandom:

Okay, this isn’t really your fault because our show does it left and right, and the average age of people in this fandom skews slightly low—but please stop throwing around the words “psycho” and “psychotic” all willy-nilly, okay?

If you use the word, “psychotic,” use it appropriately, i.e. to refer to someone who is dealing with psychosis, not as a general stand-in for words like, “dangerous,” “homicidal,” “menacing,” etc. Don’t use, “psycho” in the same way—though you should probably just avoid saying, “psycho” in general. But especially don’t use it as a stand-in for other words like the ones I just listed.

Using words that refer to mental illness and mental health issues as a way of saying, “dangerous,” “homicidal,” “menacing,” etc. is ableist as Hell and perpetuates real ideas that people with mental illnesses have to deal with, like that we’re inherently more dangerous and inherently more likely to commit violent crimes than people who don’t have mental illnesses. This is: a. factually incorrect, when you look at crime statistics; and b. really gross, in that it perpetuates the ways in which we’re societally marginalized and stigmatized.

So, please, Teen Wolf fandom. Let’s all stop calling Kate a psycho—call her a murderer. Let’s stop calling Peter psychotic (unless you’re going to write fic where Peter is literally psychotic and you do your research on what that means). Let’s just stop flinging around the casual ableism, mmmkay? It would be really cool if we could do that.

Thanks much. Love, Kassie.

Anonymous wondered: idk man. i kinda still like lalondes, i've been following her for a while now and apart from a few times, where she's really crossed the line i didn't regret following her. should i unfollow i know that's a dumb question but i have to ask it

nah you don’t have to she makes me uncomfortable for a few reasons but i’m not going to tell everyone to stop following her if they don’t want to

karkatshutup:

honestly though if i see one more person degrading sally donovan and calling her a bitch and complainging about how she treats sherlock i will punch them in the throat and force them to put themselves in her shoes

she is a woman of color working in an environment when she’s surrounded by a bunch of authoritative white dudes which is probably hard enough on her but then this asshole genius with a superiority complex and a lack of regard for anyone but himself comes swaggering in and sexually harasses her and demeans her and humiliates her using her sexuality and acts like he’s better than her even though she probably worked her goddamn tail of to get where she is

she has every fucking right to hate sherlock because sherlock is a fuck knuckle who treats everyone like dirt and then gets hurt fee fees when people don’t like him and treat him the same way

basically sally donovan is one of the only good things about that fucking show and you should shut up

Teen Wolf Au:
Erica heard that Derek’s younger sister was back in town.
Cora heard about a girl in his brother’s pack.
They both were ready to mark their territory, but they weren’t to fall for each other.
Their sassy and bitchy personalities was only a fun add on their relationship.

why are people in the ’#lol sterek’ tag calling sterek shippers misogynists while aT THE SAME TIME calling sterek shippers “basic bitches” wow that’s not hypocrisy at all

Anonymous wondered: is it wrong to laugh at a thing such as the "hell yea bitch dis go hard as hell flocka i will suck big dick team slut all day and week month year and century i love big naps D I C K S Q U A D" even tho u kno the use of slurs is wrong///

along as you acknowledge that slurs are bad and shouldn’t use it (unless reclaiming) its fine uvu

much of the music i listen to uses slurs and yeah sometimes it makes me uncomfy (and the f-slur in one song triggered a small panic attack oops) but i can still enjoy that music ya feel
